Single Again

Maggie is leaving for Vermont on August 21st (to visit her family and attend Harris' wedding). She, of course, is taking both of our children. This will render me "single" once again. This is not a good thing, because when Maggie leaves me alone I become stupid.

After maybe the first day things just go downhill. I eat nothing but ceareal for every meal. I don't go to sleep until about 2:00am or 3:00am every night. I never leave the house (except for maybe work). I am a real mess without her.

After thinking about this for a while I decided to try to find out who else might have this problem. I am not just asking the men to confess, but also any women who might have this problem (though I think this might be a male thing :) ).

So please comment. I would like to know that it is not just me. I would also like to hear how people have overcome this "trait".

Some people might say that I'm the same whether I'm "single" or not. I try to add some variety to my cuisine every now and again, though.. an occasional corn dog or plate of nachos.

The only reason I don't go to bed late when my wife isn't with me is because I know I'll be useless at work the next day. But if I don't have work, I would usually go to bed around 2:30 or 3am as well.

As for never leaving the house, that is definitely one thing I have in common with you no matter what my situation. I rarely choose to leave my apartment unless I need food or something. I have absolutely no problem sitting at the computer from 6am to 3am. There's always so much to do.

I can't say that I feel bad about my lifestyle. I'm quite comfortable with it. I've never thought to "overcome" the things that are apparently bothering you. Perhaps you could just start reading Moby Dick or the Old Testament around 9:45 every night--I'm sure you'd be asleep by 10 (I know I would).

As for the cereal--get a cow and use only the milk that you get from it instead of from a jug/box. I'm sure that would help you cut out a couple meals of cereal :)

Sorry I can't be of much more help--good luck man.

Wow, chad. That's great. I'm not going to confess anything, but I'm sure I'd stay up on the computer a lot later. :)

@ wheaties OK I guess the only thing that I am really wanting to change is the fact that I don't do anything (important). I don't keep the house clean, I don't do the dishes, nothing!

I usually just lay on the couch from the time I get home from work and just watch TV. :(
