The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It's that time of the year again. The snow is melting (or completely gone), trees are beginning to bud, and 16 teams are starting the most exciting event of the year.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs have begun!

I will probably not get to watch much of the games this year, busy busy you know, but I do intend to follow my team until they get to hoist the cup (or fall flat on their faces, as the case may be).

GO AVS!

This time of year hasn't really been all that nice for my team (Colorado Avalanche, just in case you didn't get that from the cheer above)  since 2001. That was the last year they won the cup, and the last time thy did anything of note in the playoffs. I guess they did make it in 2002 to the Western Conference Finals against Detroit and lost in a game 7, so that was pretty good I guess. But every year they have made it to the playoffs since (and they haven't made it every year mind you) they have been eliminated in either the first or second rounds.

Come to think of it, this has been the case ever since the great Patrick Roy retired. How sad.

Sure Anderson does well during the season (and this season he has done pretty good (lets not look as the last dozen games)).  I guess we shall see if he (or Budaj I guess) will step it up and help this years team make it a little farther (even a game 7 would be nice).

So for all of you AVS fans out there, the first game they play in this playoff season will be on Wednesday night on either CBC or VERSUS (if you are privileged enough to get either of those channels).

Poor Chad,

Alas, the Avs have let us down again. I would have left a note in a more timely fashion had I read this entry a bit earlier.

(Not that you care, but the playoffs are looking bleak for the Nuggets. They are losing their seris with the Jazz 1 game to 3.)
