Eight is Great!

Patrick's birthday was a ton of fun this year. We went to one of those trampoline parks. We took two of his friends, Jacob and Kaden. We had so much fun just jumping around.

He started around his birthday a mad scientist class. He went for one hour every week for 2 months. And he LOVED it! They did all kinds of fun experiments. I love to see him passionate about it!

Then in Fedurary, he got baptized. Grandma and Grandpa Lunt and Janeia came up from Houston for the weekend (crazy people). Grandma and Grandpa Hansen, Candace and Richmond, Michael and Clarissa drove down from up north, Montana, Pocatello and Ogden respectively. Since we had so many visitors, we decided to go to the BYU museum of art Friday night. They had a great exhibit called Sacred Gifts. It featured some really beautiful pieces of Christ. It was enjoyed by all.

Saturday morning we had a little bit of chaos and made it to the church by 9. Chad and Patrick both looked so handsome in their whites. Grandma Lunt talked about baptism and Grandma Hansen sang "When Jesus was Baptized." Grandpa Hansen talked about the Holy Ghost and green horses. Chad baptized Patrick and it was simply beautiful. And despite Patrick's fears, he only had to go under once. After his confirmation, when everyone was walking out, Patrick pulled me close to tell me he felt the spirit. It is the beautiful beginning of a great friendship for those two.

Patrick is a wonderful boy. He is quick to think and slow to action. And I think our world could use more of his kind. (Although, it makes cleaning really difficult.) He has a good heart and is timidly taking steps down this gospel path. It is a joy to walk beside him as he starts this journey of discipleship.

I love Patrick and I'm grateful for my intimate role in his life. I get to see his light shine when others simple can't because it shines quietly. If you're too busy and not patient, you'll miss his light. He's teaching me to slow down and to be quiet myself. We're teaching each other.
