David's 5 and Ready for Kindergarten

IMG_20140731_181832A simple family party with a few friends was all we needed to celebrate David's first five years of life. What a five years! When David was born Chad had to leave soon after. David screamed and I cried. I had David taken to the nursery where he took a nap and I took a nap. After that, we got along great! It's been the same ever since. If he's tired and/or I'm overly tired, we have a hard time with each other. But when we're both fed and awake, we're a magical pair. He hugs me out of the blue and says things like, "Looking good!" and "I love you Mom!" and "Mom is the only pretty thing I like!" and "Mom you're so mean you're nice!"

That's a lot of exclamation marks, but David never speaks with just a period behind it. He flatters me and I take it gladly! In fact, when we were considering putting David into kindergarten or not, I had  friend (who is a kindergarten teacher) tell me, "Maggie, you have to put him in school. He's so smart, he's going to manipulate the world." It's true. But sometimes, I just soak up his manipulating me, because it feels so good to be told I'm beautiful often by a boy with stinkin' cute dimples.

We love our boisterous David.
