HansenCon 2015

Last year, we had our first HansenCon. We went up to SLC, stayed in a hotel, toured temple square and came up with a family motto and rules. We had so much fun, we decided to do it every year. Over Fall Break, we went to Zion National Park. We centered our new theme on the idea of our home being Zion. We all really like this simple scripture in Psalms 149, "Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King." The kids came up with some rules to help us be joyful, especially as we remember our King, Jesus Christ. Family Rules: 1. Love Jesus (If ye love me, keep my commandments.) 2. Be Nice 3. Share 4. Be Grateful (I spy happiness!) Because it was so busy and the weather wasn't cooperating, we only stayed for one night. After one hike, Chad pointed out we were a little ambitious with the whole trip. But we "spied happiness" anyways and the Lord made it easy to see what was wonderful. The one day we were there we saw wild mountain goats on the side of the red cliffs, mountain climbers way up high, a beautiful condor soaring above the canyon, and a tarantula right in our path. The last one wasn't thrilling to me, but the kids thought is was the best part. While we were setting up camp, I tied 2 of 3 corners of a shade up. But then I needed to feed Leland. So I sat behind the "curtain" made by the shade. David pulled the last string up, causing the shade to reveal me. As he did so he said, "Presenting the baby-feeder!" Luckily, it was only us at camp. We packed up but I couldn't quite give up on our adventure yet, so we drove to Bryce Canyon. We were only there for a couple of hours which was just enough time to fall in love! I can't wait to go camping there sometime soon. After it got dark we drove home. It was short but wonderful! Family is everything!
